Legal
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how DRIS SA (Pty) Ltd ("DRIS", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit this website or contact us. We process personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
This site is our marketing website. It is separate from the DRIS platform (the application at portal.dris.ag), which has its own terms and privacy handling for account holders.
The information we collect
Information you give us. When you complete our contact form we collect:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your phone number (if you provide one);
- the role you select (for example farmer or agronomist); and
- the message you send us, including any details you choose to include about your crop or operation.
Information we collect automatically. When you browse the site, our analytics and web server automatically record limited technical information — for example your approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, the pages you view, and your IP address in server logs. Some of this is collected through cookies (see below).
How we use your information
- to respond to your enquiry and provide the information or service you asked for;
- to send you marketing about DRIS only if you have opted in (see Marketing);
- to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it; and
- to keep the site secure and to meet our legal obligations.
Our lawful basis
Under POPIA we process your information because it is necessary to respond to a request you have made, because you have consented (for example, to marketing), or because it serves our legitimate interest in running and improving our business — balanced against your rights.
Marketing
We only send you direct marketing if you actively tick the marketing consent box on our contact form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailinginfo@dris.ag or using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message. Withdrawing consent does not affect our response to an enquiry you have already sent.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (for example which pages are most read). Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data on our behalf. This helps us improve the site; it is not used to identify you personally to us.
You can control or refuse cookies at any time:
- through your browser settings, which let you block or delete cookies; and
- by installing Google's officialAnalytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops Google Analytics from running.
Blocking cookies will not stop you from reading or using the site.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- service providers who operate the site on our behalf — our hosting and infrastructure provider, and Google (for analytics) — who may process it only on our instructions;
- the DRIS platform, where your contact submission is delivered so we can respond; and
- authorities or advisors where we are legally required to, or to protect our legal rights.
Cross-border processing
Some of our service providers (such as our hosting provider and Google) may store or process information on servers outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive a level of protection consistent with POPIA.
How long we keep it
We keep contact-form submissions for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and for up to 24 months after our last contact with you for our records, unless a longer period is required by law. We keep aggregate analytics for a limited retention period. When information is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it.
How we protect it
The site is served over encrypted HTTPS, and access to contact submissions is restricted to people who need it to respond to you. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
Data breach notification
If a security compromise affects your personal information, we will notify the Information Regulator and the people affected as soon as reasonably possible after we become aware of it. That notification will describe what happened and the steps we are taking to address it and to reduce any harm, in line with section 22 of POPIA.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
- ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate or no longer needed;
- object to processing, and withdraw consent you have given; and
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe we have not handled your information lawfully.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@dris.ag. You can contact the Information Regulator (South Africa) atinforegulator.org.zaor POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
Children
This site is intended for farmers, agronomists and businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect the personal information of children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of the page. Please check back occasionally.
